Ravens Could Trade Robert Griffin III
6 years agoThe San Francisco 49ers need help at the quarterback position and the Baltimore Ravens could oblige them by shipping out third-string quarterback Robert Griffin III. The 49ers, who are expected to start backup C.J. Beathard this upcoming week, are in the market for a signal caller with starter Jimmy Garoppolo (knee) sidelined for the remainder of the season as a result of a torn ACL. “Griffin had a decent preseason in Baltimore and, in [49ers’ head coach Kyle] Shanahan’s wildest dreams, could be a quick patch-filler who also presents a far different set of weapons than the ones future opponents are currently preparing for,” Sports Illustrated’s Conor Orr wrote. The Ravens have previously received calls about Griffin's availability, but they have decided to hang onto him. It will be interesting to see if the Ravens receive a can't-refuse trade offer from the Niners. Griffin has been a healthy scratch for each of the Ravens first three contests this season.
