Rays Extend Winning Streak to Six, Beat Marlins 7-2
5 years agoThat makes it six in a row and eight of their last nine for the Rays. Yonny Chirinos (5 IP, 4 K) got the win and Kittredge did the bulk of the dirty work out of the pen. It’s a quick two-game sweep for the Rays, who’ll now move on to the Blue Jays. They just got done sweeping the Red Sox and now sit six games above the Red Sox for second place in the AL East. It’s a three-man race for the two wild card spots, with the Indians 2 games up and the Rays just 0.5 game ahead of the Athletics. They’re going to need Meadows and crew to keep hitting night in and night out, as they just don’t have the pitching to hold teams down consistently. This is one of the more entertaining playoff races in the league.
