Rece Hinds Moving From Third Base To Outfield
3 years agoCincinnati Reds third base prospect Rece Hinds will be moving from the hot corner to the outfield this year. Hinds, who has impressive raw power from the right side of the plate, is listed as the team's No. 7 prospect by MLB Pipeline. The position switch isn't set in stone, but the Reds want to expand Hinds' opportunities as an athletic player with a strong arm. The Reds second-round pick in 2019 has been limited by injuries since he became a professional. Hinds played in just three games at Rookie-level Greeneville in 2019, and he spent the shortened 2020 season at the team's alternate training site. The 21-year-old was limited to 43 games last year for Low-A Daytona after he tore the meniscus in his left knee sliding into second base. Hinds hit .251/.319/.515 with 10 home runs and 27 RBI before his injury. He'll attempt to cut down on his strikeouts and will likely begin the 2022 season with High-A Dayton.
