6 years agoBoston Red Sox relief pitcher Matt Barnes pitched 1 1/3 innings to earn the 6-3 victory over the Athletics on Wednesday. Barnes came into a tied game at three with two outs in the seventh. He also worked the entire eighth, striking out two and allowing just one hit in the appearance. Ryan Brasier earned his first save of 2019 after the Sox scored three runs in the top of the ninth to break the tie and take the lead. Many questioned the bullpen's ability entering the season, but it has been Boston's rotation that has hurt the team thus far. Both Barnes and Brasier should continue to get the ball in high-leverage situations as the team heads into series with Arizona, Toronto and Baltimore.--Steve Janik - RotoBaller
