Red Sox Still In The Mix For Freddie Freeman
3 years agoThe Boston Red Sox remain very much in the mix for superstar free-agent first baseman Freddie Freeman. The New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays have fallen out of the bidding due to acquisitions of Anthony Rizzo and Matt Chapman, respectively. The Tampa Bay Rays, San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers remain interested in Freeman. The Atlanta Braves dropped out of the running when they traded for first baseman Matt Olson on Monday. Freeman is easily the biggest free-agent name remaining on the open market. The 32-year-old is a five-time All-Star and slashed .300/.393/.503 with 31 home runs, 83 RBI and eight stolen bases in 159 regular season games last year en route to leading the Atlanta Braves to a World Series title. He'll be an elite fantasy first baseman in 2022, regardless of what jersey he's wearing.
