Reid Detmers Strikes Out 10 At Double-A, Value Rising

3 years agoLos Angeles Angels pitching prospect Reid Detmers had his best professional start on Tuesday when he struck out 10 batters over six innings of work. The right-hander was nearly untouchable and he allowed just one hit and two walks during the game. Detmers' previous high for strikeouts was set on May 11 with nine over 4 2/3 innings. Since turning pro after being drafted 10th overall in 2020, he has made four official starts — all coming in 2021 — and he has a 3.12 ERA with a K-BB of 27-6 in 17 1/3 innings. Detmers doesn't produce elite velocity but he has above-average command, good deception, and is advanced in his development.
