4 years agoThe Philadelphia Phillies had one of the worst bullpens in the Majors last season, but offseason acquisitions of Archie Bradley, Brandon Kintzler, and Jose Alvarado have been impressive in Spring Training and should join Hector Neris to be a formidable 'pen. The issue for fantasy managers becomes, "Who gets the saves?" Neris is the incumbent and recorded 28 saves in 2017 and 26 in 2019. He's been good this spring with a 9:0 strikeout-to-walk ratio and a 0.45 WHIP. He's had his share of struggles, however, which could open the door for Alvarado who is finally healthy and consistently throwing 98-100 MPH this spring. Then there's Bradley and Kintzler who have closing experience in Arizona and Miami, respectively. All four could record saves this season but Alvarado is the best value in average draft position and has the highest strikeout upside of the bunch. Neris would be the most likely to solidify a "traditional" closer role followed by Bradley who has also impressed this spring allowing just one run in eight innings.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller
