2 years agoHouston Texans running back Rex Burkhead touched the ball on the team's first series in Thursday's preseason finale against the 49ers with a two-yard run that came in the middle of three runs by rookie Dameon Pierce. While this looks like Pierce's backfield to lead, Burkhead's preseason usage patterns suggest he'll have a role on passing downs and when Pierce needs a breather. On Thursday, he had 10 carries for 28 yards and caught his only target. There's some deep-league appeal here for Burkhead, but he's likely to lose snaps to Pierce to a greater degree as the season rolls along.--Justin Carter - RotoBaller
