Reynaldo Lopez Gets Sent To Club's Alternate Site

4 years agoChicago White Sox right-handed pitcher Reynaldo Lopez was optioned to the club's alternate site ahead of Thursday’s contest against Kansas City after he lasted just 1 ⅔ frames in his start Wednesday. Lopez has scuffled mightily again in 2020, yielding 11 runs (nine earned) in his first 9 ⅔ innings with eight walks and three home runs allowed. While manager Rick Renteria did not make it immediately known whether Lopez would be a starter or reliever when he is recalled to the Major League club, he cannot be considered a fantasy asset at this stage after having allowed a big league-high 110 earned runs last year. Chicago seems committed to giving Lopez another chance, but fantasy managers are best served waiting until 2021 to re-evaluate his abilities.--Jesse Borek
