Rhys Hoskins Medically Cleared For All Spring Training Activity
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies first baseman Rhys Hoskins (elbow) has been medically cleared for all baseball activity following offseason elbow surgery. Hoskins was expected to be back for Opening Day, but it's good news he was able to participate in the team's first full-squad workout. Hoskins was one of the hottest hitters in baseball when the injury ended his season. After a slow start, Hoskins blasted 10 homers with a .622 slugging percentage across 25 games before missing the last 17 games of 2020. He won't hit for much average, but Hoskins should provide 25-30 homers with plenty of run and RBI opportunities in a good Phillies lineup. An elite walk rate, however, gives Hoskins significantly more value in leagues that utilize on-base percentage.
