Rich Hill To Open As Fifth Starter
3 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Rich Hill will open the season as the team's No. 5 starter. Kutter Crawford has also made the Opening Day roster after a strong spring performance. Hill will begin the year in the rotation, but pitcher Garrett Whitlock will remain stretched out, and he's all but certain to have an extended relief outing on Opening Day later this week. Hill, 42, will be eased into action to begin the regular season and will be piggybacked with Whitlock, which will obviously limit his fantasy ceiling in DFS. Over 158 2/3 innings for the Tampa Bay Rays and New York Mets in 2021, the veteran left-hander had a 3.86 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 150 strikeouts and 55 walks in 32 outings (31 starts).
