3 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Rich Hill went five innings in the Mets 2-1 loss to the Washington Nationals on Friday, allowing two earned runs on five hits while striking out eight batters. Despite picking up the loss, it was a decent performance for Hill (6-6), though it continued a trend in which he has not made it past the fifth inning since June 29. Of late, Hill is just not going deep enough in games to record wins and/or quality starts, significantly limiting his fantasy value. As such, Hill is useful in only the deepest of mixed league and NL-only formats, where he can provide limited innings and some strikeouts for desperate managers making a last-effort push.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
