Rick Porcello Tosses Eight Scoreless Innings In Win
6 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Rick Porcello threw eight scoreless innings of two-hit, eight-strikeout baseball in a 5-1 victory over Oakland on Tuesday. It was a return to form of sorts for the 2016 American League Cy Young winner and was easily his best outing of the season. It was his first start striking out more than five hitters, and only the second time he's allowed two earned runs or less. He wasn't overly filthy, dealing just seven swinging strikes in 114 total pitches, but he was obviously effective nonetheless. Porcello will look to string together consecutive impressive starts when he goes back out on Sunday against the White Sox.
