4 years agoBaltimore Orioles third baseman Rio Ruiz was scratched from Sunday’s lineup against the Rays, with it being revealed after the game that he is battling a sore shoulder. Pat Valaika took his spot at the hot corner and hit his first home run of the 2020 season. Ruiz, who has been handed full-time playing duties for an extended period for the first time in his career, has had an improved looking swing through his six games. The sample size is admittedly small, but Ruiz has roped three home runs and delivered an OPS of 1.112 already and presents season-long intrigue in medium-to-deep-sized formats. Schedule chaos has thrown Baltimore into flux heading into next week, so Ruiz should have ample time to recover ahead of his next potential appearance.--Jesse Borek
