4 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Robbie Ray struck out nine and issued no free passes in Saturday's no-decision loss to the Tampa Bay Rays. The southpaw was impressive in this one as he hit 98.3 MPH on the gun with his fastball while allowing just six hits through six frames, but a pair of long balls blemished the outing. A solo shot by Mike Zunino in the second and a two-run homer off the bat of Mike Brosseau in the sixth forced him to leave the contest with the game tied, but it was otherwise encouraging to see him throw 67 of his 94 pitches for strikes. Ray is not completely trustworthy yet in 12-team leagues, and he will face a tougher test in next matchup versus the Braves in Dunedin next weekend, but he's worth keeping an eye on if he continues to harness his control.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
