3 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Robbie Ray wasn't at his sharpest in the club's second game of a doubleheader versus the Yankees on Thursday night, allowing five runs in 4 2/3 innings. One of the runs was unearned as he allowed five hits, including a pair of homers, while walking two and striking out five. It was the first time since April 18 that he issued more than one free pass in a start, and that outing also remains his only start of the season where he never served up a long ball. It would be interesting to see where his 3.81 ERA would be if he could lower his HR/9 from an ugly 2.25, but at least he's keeping his WHIP down and his strikeouts up. Ray will face the Marlins in his next outing in a juicier matchup on paper.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
