Robert Tonyan Cleared For Week 1
2 years agoGreen Bay Packers tight end Robert Tonyan (knee) doesn't enter the weekend with an injury designation and is expected to play in the Week 1 regular season opener against the Minnesota Vikings. Tonyan is returning after suffering a torn ACL in his left knee in Week 8 of last year. He's become a forgotten man in fantasy, but the 28-year-old could be a valuable streaming tight end in Week 1 with the Packers lacking experienced pass-catchers. No. 1 wideout Allen Lazard (ankle) is already doubtful to play. In 2020, Tonyan set career-highs in catches (52), targets (59), receiving yards (586) and touchdowns (11) in 16 regular season games (eight starts). If he has a big performance to kick things off, he could be one of the more popular waiver-wire targets heading into Week 2.
