3 years agoGreen Bay Packers tight end Robert Tonyan (knee), who missed more than half of the 2021 season due to a torn ACL, is currently ahead of schedule in his recovery, according to a report from Zach Kruse of The Packers Wire. Still, general manager Brian Gutekunst cautioned that although Tonyan is progressing well, "you guys know how important he's going to be to our offense, so we'll be cautious as we go through that, make sure he's available for the whole year." The 27-year-old had a breakout campaign in 2020, catching 52 passes for 586 yards and 11 touchdowns. However, he came back down to Earth last year, accruing 204 yards and two scores through eight games. Heading into the upcoming season, look for Tonyan to rank as a mid-to-high TE2. Davante Adams' departure and Aaron Rodgers' return both bode well for the tight end's involvement, especially in the red zone.--Andersen Pickard - RotoBaller
