Roberto Perez Lands On IL With Shoulder Ailment
4 years agoCleveland Indians catcher Roberto Perez (shoulder) has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to a right shoulder injury. The current plan is to not have Perez throw for at least the next seven days, which could extend his absence beyond the minimum 10 days he must spend on the IL. While external catching options exist, in house, Cleveland boasts veteran Sandy Leon, who figures to handle the lion’s share of the catching duties for the time being. Perez opened the year just 1-for-10 at the dish, but has been integral in the handling of Cleveland’s pitching staff. Additionally, outfielder Daniel Johnson was recalled to take Perez’s spot on the team’s current 30-man roster.
