Robinson Cano Tests Positive For PED, Suspended For 2021
4 years agoNew York Mets second baseman Robinson Cano has tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug on Wednesday. Cano will be suspended for the entire season and will forfeit his $24 million salary in 2021. This is the second positive test for Cano in his career, which results in the automatic 162-game suspension. After struggling in his first season with the Mets in 2019, he rebounded in 2020 hitting .316/.352/.544 with 10 home runs and 30 RBI. Cano was expected to play a significant role with the Mets in 2021. As a result of this suspension, look for the Mets to utilize Jeff McNeil and/or Andres Gimenez at second base regularly in 2021, unless they make an offseason move. Cano should now be ignored in all fantasy formats going forward.
