Robinson Chirinos Belts Second Homer Against Astros
7 years agoTexas Rangers catcher Robinson Chirinos returned to the lineup after a day off to face the Astros' Justin Verlander and responded by hitting a 352-foot solo shot off of the righty. It was the veteran's second home run of the series against their in-state rival, the other coming off of Gerrit Cole. Chirinos was struggling this season before going down with a wrist injury, but he has been showing off his expected power since getting back to work, and against two Cy Young contenders, no less. Chirinos may be finding his groove, but the cap on his value is that of a useful second catcher. In two-catcher leagues, he's a starter, but only if he's performing. Don't go overboard and overpay expecting 30 more homers in 2018.
