5 years agoColorado Rockies catcher Dom Nunez has been called up and will make his first MLB start Tuesday night vs the Diamondbacks. Nunez brings big power to the Big Leagues as he had 17 home runs and a .921 OPS in 61 games in Triple-A this season. Those numbers are inflated a bit playing in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League, but Nunez will be playing in a similar environment in home games in Colorado. The 24-year-old already possesses great plate discipline with a 13.6 percent walk rate in Triple-A and his 49.3 percent fly-ball rate could play up at Coors Field. The Rockies designated Chris Iannetta for assignment to clear a roster spot for Nunez. It is unclear how often Nunez will play with Tony Wolters still in the mix but the Rockies will likely want a good look at their top catching prospect down the stretch. He's worth a speculative add in most leagues.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller
