Ronald Guzman Comes Through With First Career HR
7 years agoTexas Rangers first baseman Ronald Guzman nailed a clutch, game-tying home run in the top of the 8th inning off of Astros' reliever Brad Peacock for his first career long ball. Guzman also brought in Jurickson Profar for the game-winning run in the top of the 10th with a comebacker to the mound that took a hard bounce, leaving Astros defenders with no play to make. Guzman showed a solid approach in his five at-bats, and has now registered three hits in his first two games. If he displays more power than he has shown during his minor league days, he will become a more interesting fantasy option. For now, deep leagues may want to take a flier, especially if he continues to produce. His playing time will take a steep drop once players start returning from injury and Willie Calhoun is brought up, as Joey Gallo will return to first, but the Rangers do not boast the kind of depth that would keep a hot bat out of the lineup.
