Ronald Guzman Singles for First MLB Hit
7 years agoTexas Rangers first baseman Ronald Guzman was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock in a flurry of moves on Friday, which included placing Elvis Andrus on the disabled list, and responded in his first MLB game of the season with his first career hit. Lining a single to the outfield off of Houstom Astros reliever Chris Devenski, Guzman showed the contact skills he has exhibited throughout his minor league career. While he brings little power despite his frame, the 23-year-old expects to get plenty of playing time with a number of Rangers regulars on the mend. Guzman may not be a terribly interesting fantasy prospect, but if he hits he will play, so deep leaguers may want to keep an eye on him.
