Ross Stripling Strikes Out Five In No-Decision
6 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Ross Stripling allowed three hits and a walk with five strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision on Friday night against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He managed to throw 51 of his 76 pitches for strikes, posting 13 first-pitch strikes to the 20 batters he faced. It was a solid showing for Stripling, who was working earlier in the rotation than anticipated with Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) on the shelf and Walker Buehler slow to recover from a minor spring injury. Stripling will next face the rival San Francisco Giants in another home start next Wednesday. He was 1-0 with a 1.64 ERA in one start and four relief appearances against the Giants in 2018, posting a .195 opponent batting average over 11 innings with no walks and 11 punchouts.
