4 years agoToronto Blue Jays pitcher Ross Stripling struck out seven Detroit Tigers hitters without issuing a walk on Monday. However, the right-hander was hardly effective and he allowed three runs on five hits — including a solo homer — through 3.2 innings. Stripling continued to struggle with the effectiveness of his fastball and all seven strikeouts came on his secondary offerings: two on changeups, three on sliders, and three on curveballs. His heater was used early in the count to get ahead in the count and sat around 91-92 mph. With Nate Pearson expected to open the season on the IL, there is an opening in the Jays' starting rotation with a competition ongoing between Stripling (the favorite for the role), T.J. Zeuch, and Anthony Kay.--Marc Hulet - RotoBaller
