4 years agoToronto Blue Jays designated hitter Rowdy Tellez went deep for the first time this season during Tuesday's 7-3 victory over the New York Yankees. The blast from the left-handed hitter came against southpaw reliever Lucas Luetge. Tellez has a respectable career wRC+ of 99 against same-side pitching. The burly, young hitter was off to a terrible start to the year and recorded his first hit of the season on Monday. He's now 2-for-29 (.069) with a 1-10 BB-K rate but Jays' manager Charlie Montoyo said after Tuesday's game that he's expecting Tellez to break out in a big way now. Last season, the 26-year-old produced a 133 wRC+ with eight home runs in 35 games.--Marc Hulet - RotoBaller
