6 years agoThe Kansas City Royals reworked their deal with closer Wily Peralta to guarantee his 2019 salary at $3.25 million and tack on a mutual option at $7 million for 2020, according to a source. His 2019 base salary will now be $2.25 million, with the other $1 million guaranteed in a buyout for the option. Peralta became the team's closer down the stretch and finished with 14 saves, a 3.67 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 35 strikeouts in 34 1/3 innings. His career-high 6.0 BB/9 is concerning, though, as well as the fact that he's unlikely to see many save chances for a rebuilding club.
