3 years agoThe Kansas City Royals agreed to sign right-hander Daniel Mengden to a minor league deal on Tuesday. In addition to Mengden, the Royals signed former Houston Astros swingman Brad Peacock to a minor league deal on Monday, giving them some rotation depth for the 2022 season. Mengden, 29, had a 3.60 ERA with 104 strikeouts in 120 innings while pitching in Korea last year. In five major league seasons with the Oakland Athletics before that, he had a 4.64 ERA and 1.31 WHIP while striking out 224 and walking 102 in 302 2/3 innings over 60 appearances (48 starts) from 2016-20. In the shortened 2020 campaign, Mengden allowed five earned runs in 12 1/3 innings over four outings (one start) for the A's.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
