7 years agoFor the last few seasons, Toronto Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin seems to start the season ice-cold, only to follow it up with a very solid May and beyond. With a meager .156/.299/.328 slash line thus far, Martin is certainly living up to his expectation of early-season woes. However, recent days have brought encouraging signs for Martin. He’s currently riding a three-game hitting streak and has picked up base knocks in four out of five games and five out of seven. His upward trend continued on Monday night in a victory over the Minnesota Twins when he hit his third home run of the season and drew a walk. Normally, that kind of production isn’t necessarily newsworthy, but at the catcher position -- possibly the most barren position in the entire realm of fantasy sports -- every little bit helps. Keep an eye on Martin.--John Smith
