6 years agoPenske Racing driver Ryan Blaney posted a fastest lap of 141.287 mph in the final round of Friday's Monster Energy Cup Series qualifying to earn the pole position for Sunday's TicketGuardian 500 at ISM Raceway in Avondale, Ariz. Perhaps the seventh time will be a charm for Blaney. He has six career MENCS starts at ISM Raceway, but he has only two top-10 finishes with a total of 14 laps led, and his highest finish was eighth in the fall race in 2016. He started on the pole last fall, ending up 17th. Traditionally Blaney has qualified very well at this flat track, but he has tumbled to the middle of the pack over the course of the race. Be careful.--Daniel Dobish
