4 years agoMilwaukee Brewers outfielder/designated hitter Ryan Braun is not among the starting nine for Friday’s contest against the Cubs and right-handed pitcher Alec Mills. Manager Craig Counsell said that the move was by design to give Braun time to recover as he is just making his return from a finger infection. His next step is to play the field, which Counsell said would happen Saturday and Sunday, although at what position remains to be seen. With Logan Morrison having been designated for assignment earlier in the day, Braun could see reps at first with consistency moving forward, thereby giving him additional season-long appeal. Chicago has not yet announced a starter for Saturday’s contest.--Jesse Borek
