Ryan Fitzpatrick Doesn't Get Chance to Complete Comeback
5 years agoMiami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick had his best game of the season on Sunday, completing 23-of-35 passes for 282 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Fitzpatrick's second touchdown of the day was an 11-yard run that brought the Dolphins to within a field goal with less than two minutes remaining, but Fitzpatrick wouldn’t get a chance to see if he had any magic left, as the ensuing onside kick attempt was run back for a Buffalo touchdown. While Fitzpatrick’s 18 points represent a high on the season and also came against one of the league’s best pass defenses, don’t be fooled into thinking this was a good day for the 36-year-old veteran starting in place of a benched Josh Rosen. Fitzpatrick led the Dolphins on a ten-minute drive to open the second half, driving 63 yards but then made a critical mistake by throwing a back-breaking interception at the goal line. The Bills then proceeded to march 98 yards down the field for a touchdown and a lead they wouldn’t relinquish again. Even facing a struggling Pittsburgh Steelers team on Monday Night Football in Week 8, Fitzpatrick won’t be a recommended play in fantasy and should be left on the waiver wire.
