Ryan Jeffers Out Against Orioles
2 years agoMinnesota Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers (thumb) is not in the starting lineup on Saturday against the Baltimore Orioles. Jeffers left the game early on Friday with a right thumb contusion, and he should be considered day-to-day for now. The 25-year-old backstop is hitting only .196/.282/.339 on the season with five home runs, 20 RBI and 19 runs scored in 168 at-bats while sharing playing time behind the dish with Gary Sanchez. Sanchez will get the start at catcher on Saturday and is hitting eighth against Orioles right-hander Jordan Lyles. Sanchez is the better offensive player and has gone 7-for-24 (.292) with a homer and four RBI in six games over the last week of play.
