Ryan Tepera Earns Fifth Save Against Braves
6 years agoToronto Blue Jays closer Ryan Tepera started off shaky in the role upon taking it over from Roberto Osuna in late-May, but he’s really come on strong over the last month. On Wednesday against the Atlanta Braves, Tepera shut the door in the ninth inning, picking up his fifth save of the year. He wasn’t as sharp as he has been lately, allowing two hits in the process, but he still got the job done and struck out one. Tepera’s stuff isn’t all that electric or overpowering, but it’s been good enough to entrench him as the team’s closer for now. Of course, his name has also popped up in trade chatter as of late, but with several years of team control left, it would likely take a good haul for Toronto to move him.
