Ryan Weber Continues Strong Start To Spring
5 years agoBoston Red Sox pitcher Ryan Weber struck out four batters, allowed just one hit and threw four scoreless innings in Monday's 2-1 victory against the Braves. Weber has continued to build on his productive start to the spring, as the 29-year-old has totaled an ERA of 0.00, along with six hits allowed and a K/BB ratio of 11/0 through nine scoreless innings this spring. The right-handed pitcher has earned praise from interim manager Ron Roenicke, who stated that "he's doing everything he can to help us make a really tough decision into an easy decision," regarding Weber's chances of earning a rotation spot to begin the season. With two open spots in the Red Sox rotation as a result of the David Price trade and Chris Sale injury, Weber has become a strong candidate to begin the campaign as a starter, but his career 5.04 ERA in the Major Leagues suggests that the right-hander should likely begin the season on the waiver wire in standard leagues or earn consideration in extremely deep AL-only formats.
