7 years agoWashington Nationals first baseman Ryan Zimmerman isn't starting on Saturday, and Matt Adams is manning first in his place while batting cleanup. Zimmerman has been ice-cold to start the season. He has five hits in 43 at-bats with 12 strikeouts and three walks. While it's easy to point to the fact that Zimmerman didn't play with his teammates in spring training (he practiced on the minor league backfields) as the reason for his slow start. The truth is that everyone on the Nationals has gone cold. He'll heat back up, but he's unlikely to post another monster season like 2017 that saw career highs in home runs and RBI.--Mario Hernandez - RotoBaller
