Ryne Harper Having Early Success
6 years agoMinnesota Twins relief pitcher Ryne Harper, a 30-year-old non-roster invitee to spring training, has a 1.69 ERA in the first 20 appearances of his MLB career. Harper has struck out 18 and walked four in 21 1/3 innings. Even though Minnesota's closer situation is not completely settled, Harper would seem to be a long way off from contending for that role. The more established relievers Blake Parker and Taylor Rogers have received the bulk of save opportunities and converted 12 of their combined 13 chances, and should either falter, Trevor May would likely be next in line. Harper, despite the lack of fantasy relevance, has still been a nice surprise for the Twins bullpen.
