2 years agoArizona Diamondbacks pitching prospect Ryne Nelson got roughed up on Tuesday for Triple-A Reno. The right-hander lasted just 3 1/3 innings and allowed three hits, seven runs, four walks and struck out four in the contest. After excelling in his first two years as a professional, Nelson was promoted to Triple-A to open this year and has really struggled. For the season, Nelson is 2-4 with a 7.36 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in nine starts. It hasn't been the easy transition that Nelson has shown throughout his ascension in the farm system, but the 24-year-old will continue to work out the kinks in his game for Reno. When at his best, Nelson racks up plenty of strikeouts and throws an explosive fastball. The Diamondbacks are playing better than most expected, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see Nelson get an opportunity this summer with the club, pending he can improve from his slow start. He is just a name to monitor in dynasty leagues for now.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller
