Saints Hire Doug Marrone To Help With Offense
3 years agoThe New Orleans Saints hired Alabama offensive line coach and former Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone for a key role on their offensive staff on Wednesday, according to a source. The Saints are also considering hiring former New York Jets offensive coordinator John Morton as an assistant under new head coach Dennis Allen. Marrone was the Saints offensive coordinator and offensive line coach from 2006-08 and coached at Alabama last year after getting fired by the Jaguars. Morton served as New Orleans' wide receivers coach from 2015-16 and spent the last three years as a senior offensive assistant for the Las Vegas Raiders. Marrone could serve as the offensive coordinator, as last year's offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael, is expected to remain with the team but in a lower-profile position.
