Saints Plan To Have Jameis Winston Starting In Week 1
3 years agoNew Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen said the team's plan is for quarterback Jameis Winston (knee) to be the Week 1 starter. "We like the progress that he's making. Man I really loved a lot of the things he did last year for us," Allen said. "He's doing well in the rehab process. Jameis is probably one of the hardest workers that I've been around. He's just got a tireless work ethic and he loves football. That's his life. Everything is all about ball to him. He's working his tail off." The 28-year-old is working his way back from a torn left ACL suffered last year. Winston wasn't outstanding, but he looked good and limited turnovers as the starter last year before his injury, and his fantasy stock is rising with receiver Michael Thomas (ankle) set to return and with the addition of first-round pass-catcher Chris Olave.
