7 years agoThe New Orleans Saints are still searching for the right spot to put first-rounder Marcus Davenport. The defensive end missed three weeks of training camp with a groin injury, which has caused him to be behind as the regular season approaches. Still, Davenport showed his playmaking ability in just 15 snaps in the third preseason game against the Chargers. "I think that's still to be determined," defensive coordinator Dennis Allen said. "Certainly, we didn't draft him just to be a situational pass rusher. We drafted this guy to be an every-down player, so that's what we're working to do, to try to get him ready to do that." Davenport has every-down ability, but the team may ease him in, especially with Cameron Jordan starting at left defensive end and Alex Okafor on track to start on the right side in Week 1. Head coach Sean Payton said Davenport will see a lot of work in the final preseason game on Thursday against the Rams. Davenport has a lot of upside but probably won't see enough consistent snaps initially to be an IDP force.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
