4 years agoKansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez has compiled just a .693 OPS through his first 13 games in 2020, which nearly sets him on pace for a career low. But a deeper look at the metrics shows that Perez is actually scorching the ball, tied for the second-most hard hit balls (20) in the Majors. Additionally, his .350 xBA, .677 xSLG, and .429 xwOBA are all inside the top 10 percent of the league -- in short, he is hitting into horrendous luck. Perez still doesn’t walk much -- just a 1.9% BB rate thus far -- but he should turn the corner with production in the near future if his start to the year is any indication. His DFS price tag has reacted accordingly, but he can also be a staple at the catcher spot in virtually any-sized season-long format.--Jesse Borek
