4 years agoKansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez has re-upped with the organization on a four-year, $82 million deal, marking the largest financial commitment that the Royals have ever made to a player. Perez is coming off of a Silver Slugger-winning season in 2020, where he slashed .333/.353/.633 over 37 games. Perez's return to the diamond after missing the entire 2019 year marked a drastic improvement in offensive production, as he failed to crack the .300 mark in OBP in any year from '14-18. Despite that, Perez stands out as a Top 5 catcher option in season-long drafts due to an xBA (.318) and xSLG (.611) that ranked him in the 98th percentile of all batters last year.--Jesse Borek
