3 years agoKansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez went 1-for-4 on Thursday night, as he recorded his 25th hit of the month of May in a 7-2 loss to the Rays. Despite the low performance Thursday, Perez has been looking good this month as he is slashing .281/.309/.461 with four home runs, 15 RBI and eight runs scored over 24 games. And while he is hitting .274 with a .473 slugging percentage, Statcast metrics suggest he's been slightly unlucky at the plate, as he currently owns a .280 xBA and .569 xSLG which rank in the 80th and 93rd percentiles respectively. He's hitting the ball harder than ever before with a 92.9 mph exit velocity and 56.7 percent hard-hit rate, and he could be on track for putting up one of the best seasons of his career. Managers should consider trying to acquire him now before his numbers improve.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
