Salvador Perez Serving As Designated Hitter On Thursday
3 years agoKansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez (head) is batting third and will serve as the team's designated hitter in Thursday's game against the Yankees. Perez left Wednesday's game early after getting hit in the mask with a pitch. Manager Mike Matheny called Perez's injury a "non-concussive" event. The 31-year-old avoided a concussion but will get the day off from behind the plate. Fantasy managers can safely insert Perez into their starting lineups for Thursday's slate. The 2020 AL Comeback Player of the Year has been an offensive force in 2021, slashing .288/.319/.534 with 18 home runs, 47 RBI, and 36 runs scored across 72 games.
