Sam Darnold Believed To Have High-Ankle Sprain
2 years agoCarolina Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold (ankle) is believed to have suffered a high-ankle sprain on Friday in the preseason finale against the Buffalo Bills based on the initial evaluation, according to sources. Darnold will undergo an MRI exam on Saturday to determine the severity and if there is other damage. The 25-year-old had to be carted off the field on Friday after being tackled in the third quarter. Baker Mayfield was already named the team's starter heading into Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns, so Darnold was already well off the fantasy radar. And with rookie Matt Corral (foot) out for the season, P.J. Walker appears to be in line to be Mayfield's backup to begin the regular season. Stay tuned for more updates on Darnold's timetable for a return.
