2 years agoCarolina Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold (ankle) suffered a severe left ankle during the preseason matchup versus the Buffalo Bills on Friday night. Even worse, he exited the field on a cart. Baker Mayfield was named the team's starting signal-caller heading into Week 1. However, after Carolina lost rookie Matt Corral (foot) for the year, losing Darnold wouldn't be good news. Nonetheless, if the former Jet misses time moving ahead, PJ Walker will likely fill in as the No. 2 option on the depth chart. Yet, even if Walker gets a chance to start at some point moving ahead, his poor production throughout the years won't make him a trustworthy fantasy option.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBaller
