3 years agoCarolina Panthers head coach Matt Rhule said that quarterback Sam Darnold (shoulder) has been cleared for contact and "will play at some point." Despite Darnold's progress, Rhule stated that Cam Newton will start in Week 16 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and will "have a major role." Darnold is likely to be activated from Injured Reserve later this week and the Panthers figure to ease him back into the offense since he has been sidelined since Week 9. The 24-year-old had some pretty awful games under center in the weeks leading up to his shoulder injury, and there's really not much fantasy appeal for the final three games of the regular season.
