3 years agoCarolina Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold is taking over under center for Cam Newton in Week 16 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. A report surfaced Sunday morning that Darnold would play this weekend, setting him up to retake the starting QB job for the final two weeks of the season. Newton clearly isn't the same player he was in his first stint with the Panthers, and he went 6-for-9 for 52 yards and an interception against Tampa before being replaced by Darnold. He also added four carries for 42 yards on the ground. Darnold was terrible before suffering a shoulder injury that landed him on Injured Reserve, but the Panthers have much more invested in him after trading for him in the offseason. Fantasy managers should be avoiding Darnold the rest of the way.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
